POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man is on trial for the 2020 fatal shootings of three friends heading out on a fishing trip, a case in which prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Tony Lee “TJ” Wiggins Jr., 32, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder, tampering with evidence, and possessing a weapon as a convicted felon. The charges stem from the July 17, 2020, killings of Damion Tillman, Brandon Rollins, and Keven Springfield outside a Frostproof Dollar General.
Assistant State Attorney Ralph Guerra told jurors during opening statements on September 14, 2026, that Wiggins followed Tillman out of the store before shooting all three men nine times over an alleged dispute involving a truck engine.
