Special education teacher shortage causes setbacks

MASON, Mich. (WLNS) — Across the nation, schools are seeing a shortage in special education teachers, including here in mid-Michigan.

Crystal Cutler, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services at Ingham Intermediate School District, says she noticed a shift in 2012 and 2015.

“Right now, after the pandemic, we consider special education teachers to be critically short,” said Crystal Cutler.
