Know the signs: Intermountain Health OB-GYN discusses ovarian cancer with Intermountain Health

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and an Intermountain Health physician is encouraging women to recognize potential symptoms and speak with a health care provider when something does not feel right.

Ovarian cancer is sometimes described as a “silent” cancer, but Sonnie Kim, MD, a certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Intermountain Health, said women may experience symptoms that are easy to overlook or mistake for common digestive, urinary or menstrual concerns.

“It should not be called a silent killer,” Dr. Kim said. “It often gets diagnosed late because people have a tendency to ignore the symptoms.”…
