LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Prosecutors are asking a judge to rule that statements between a woman and her ex-wife are not inadmissible at trial, saying they include an admission to smothering a 68-year-old woman during an overdose and storing her body in a freezer.
Daniel Roush, 39, faces a murder charge for the death of Monique Gilbertson, 68. For 16 years, Roush, a transgender woman who identifies as Jazlynn Roush, was married to Gina Lopez, 53, prosecutors said. Lopez does not face murder charges but is accused of stealing some of Gilbertson’s belongings, according to prosecutors.
In 2024, Gilbertson met Roush at a store and invited her to live with her, police said. Roush would help Gilbertson around the house, but she later became “upset about how filthy Roush was,” documents said. Around Oct. 22, 2024, Gilbertson kicked Roush out of the house and changed the locks…
