LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – With heavy rain and a risk for flash flooding in the forecast, there are several ways to stay safe this week.
Emily Fay, the Public Information Officer for Lexington Emergency Management, says many of the safety issues having to do with heavy rainfall involve driving.
“One of the bigger issues is turn around, don’t drown,” said Fay. “You never ever want to drive through flooded waters or a flooded roadway. You don’t know what’s beneath it, and it only takes six inches of water to knock over an adult and 12 inches to move most cars. So if you encounter a flooded roadway, stop and turn around, and don’t drown. Plus, you never know if the road is still there.”…
