LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky is in the middle of a data center rush that has left some community members feeling blindsided and worried about who will pay for the infrastructure needed to support the massive facilities.
The state currently has 37 data centers, and the Public Service Commission says there are at least 29 potential data center projects in its pipeline.
This week, the city of Lexington unanimously passed a moratorium on new data center developments through October. The decision came after community members voiced concerns about a new data center coming to the city.
