Lexington restaurant cleans up after flash flooding

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Several Lexington restaurants are cleaning up after Monday’s flash flooding, including Epping’s on Eastside on the Warehouse Block.

Tuesday was calm and sunny in the area, but business owners said more than a foot of floodwater rushed down the street the day before.

Cleanup efforts underway

Cole Arimes, co-owner of Epping’s on Eastside, said the restaurant has dealt with minor water issues before, but nothing like Monday’s flooding.

“I hightailed it down here as quickly as I could,” Arimes said. “The fire department had come down to clear the storm drains and pop the lids off, and so the water cleared up really quickly but left a mess inside.”

Restaurant hopes to reopen soon

Arimes said the restaurant is normally closed on Mondays, but he and restoration workers spent time after the water receded and into Tuesday pushing water out and drying the restaurant…
