MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – Saturday’s flash flooding hit Madison County particularly hard, displacing 17 households and leaving 320 homes without water, according to Gov. Andy Beshear.
Among the losses was the Million Church on Tate’s Creek Road, which was swept away in the floodwaters.
Church had been a community fixture for decades
Pastor Jessie Lainhart said he has led the congregation — which he calls “Millions” — for two years, and that his wife was raised in the Tate’s Creek Road area. He said the church was originally built as a gas station in 1929 and converted to a church in 1970.
