Winchester home catches fire, multiple agencies helping with response

WINCHESTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — Multiple fire crews responded to help on Thursday morning in response to a Winchester house fire.

Around 6:15 a.m. on July 9, officials with the Winchester Fire Department said a historic “balloon-frame” home caught fire on the 300 block of South Male Street.

Authorities have reported no injuries. Officials said South Maple Street would be closed from Boone Avenue to College Street “for an unknown amount of time” due to the ongoing response and initial investigation with assistance from multiple agencies.

The fire is under control, according to Winchester fire officials, but authorities urged the community to avoid the area. More information will be provided as it’s made available.
