Frequently praised by food reviewers, locals, and more, The Bodega, nicknamed “Home of the Sloppy Dogs”, has been mixing big-city vibes with small-town love to create an experience like no other, with customers from all around coming to taste homemade flavors and appreciate the care that goes into every meal. Owned and run by Winchester native Jacqueline Anderson and her family, the Andersons have strived to create a welcoming atmosphere both inside and out of their restaurant.
Opening two years ago in May 2024, Jacqueline started the business to be closer to her family and community. Jessica Anderson, Jacqueline’s mom, stated, “She was also a straight A student, even getting a full-ride scholarship to UK. After college, she wanted to come back and feed her community and…take care of everyone. She’s incredible like that, always so hard-working and determined. She’d do anything to take care of the people around her.”
For the past two years, Jacqueline has been cooking every single meal by hand, no fancy machines and no shortcuts. Everything from the fries to the burgers is cooked to order and served piping hot. With 100% beef hot dogs and never-frozen patties, all ingredients are sourced locally and prepared in the morning. Even the chili used on the chili dogs is cooked fresh every morning, making the chili dog their most-ordered item, with the BBQ Slaw Dog coming in close second…
