LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – It’s Game Day for Big Blue Nation, but the weather may not be in our favor.
Scattered Showers Saturday
A round of showers and thunderstorms will move through the state this morning to early afternoon, moving southwest to northeast. Moderate to heavy rain is likely around noon.
It is likely that Lexington will have a break from rain during today’s football game, but those who attend will want to bring a poncho or rain coat just in case.
With the chance of thunderstorms and lightning today, umbrellas are not recommended. On the bright side, afternoon highs will be a bit cooler, with most areas barely reaching 80 degrees.
Another round of rain is likely this evening, this time moving from west to east starting at around dinnertime.
Areas in eastern Kentucky will likely get heavy showers over the same areas repeatedly, increasing the risk for flash flooding. A Flood Watch has been issued for Rowan, Morgan, Magoffin, Floyd, and Pike Counties and areas east, in effect until 1 am.
