Local journalists talk about ARC investigation and coverage

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington Herald-Leader reporters Taylor Six and Alex Acquisto discussed their investigation into alleged Medicaid fraud at Kentucky’s largest drug rehab center in an interview with WKYT’s Kelsey Souto.

The reporters said their work, a partnership with ProPublica, was vital because of the scale of the alleged fraud and the impact on vulnerable people seeking addiction treatment.

Six and Acquisto talked about the challenge of covering an ever-evolving situation with many moving parts. The investigation examined Addiction Recovery Care, which provided more than two-thirds of all treatment beds in Kentucky at its peak in 2024.
