FEDERAL CHARGES: Convicted Felon Arrested After Guns Found During Investigation into House Fire and Explosion in Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON, KY — A federal criminal complaint was unsealed Monday charging a Fayette County resident with illegal firearm possession following a major emergency response to a house fire and explosion in a Lexington neighborhood.

On April 13, 2026, Jonathan Huff, 37, was charged in the U.S. District Court in Lexington with illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charges stem from an incident on Orleans Circle, where Lexington Police, fire personnel, and federal agents were dispatched to a house fire.

The Investigation: During the preliminary investigation into the fire, law enforcement determined that Huff, a resident of the home, was allegedly involved in criminal activity. A search warrant executed on Huff’s residence and vehicle led to the discovery of two firearms.
