SHELBY, N.C. (KOLN) — Carpet Land Post 500 won the American Legion World Series in thrilling fashion Tuesday, rallying from a five-run deficit to defeat the Post 158 Barbers (Oregon) 9-6. The national championship is the first for Carpet Land, which became the first Nebraska-based team to claim the ALWS title since 1939.

Cade Anderson went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, including a towering home run in the fourth inning that gave Carpet Land its first lead. Brodie McIntire added a pair of hits, as did Bradyn Erickson and Jackson Makovicka, who launched a crucial three-run home run — his first of the Legion season. McIntire was named the 2026 American Legion Baseball Player of the Year.
