KEARNEY – On Friday night Kearney welcomed the 3-0 Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks to Cope Stadium on homecoming night, and walked out winning 38-23.
Both teams exchanged a field goal in their first drive and after that it went sideways. Kearney would force a safety to go up 5-3. Then Canon Cope would return the following kick return for a 75 yard touchdown and the Bearcats would lead 12-3 without the offense taking the field after it was tied at three.
Kearney would score again to lead 19-3. Southwest followed scoring but did not score an extra point and led 19-9. Kolden Kohler a bit later hit Camden Miller on a wheel route before halftime, and a defensive stop put the Bearcats ahead at the half 29-15…
