The Ozarks Electric Cooperative and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) announced Wednesday (Aug. 26) a phased plan in which Ozarks Electric would step away as a cooperative member and develop its own power-supply strategy.
According to a joint press release, Ozarks Electric would continue receiving power and other services from AECC through November 2030. The organizations said the agreement will not impact electric service.
Ozarks Electric, founded in 1930, is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative with more than 97,179 meters in northwest Arkansas and northeast Oklahoma. The AECC is a Little Rock-based generation and transmission cooperative that provides wholesale power to its distribution cooperatives in Arkansas.
