Rare PDS tornado watch issued for 6 different states, including Missouri

The National Weather Service has issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Watch for the Missouri Bootheel, northeast Arkansas, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and western Tennessee.

Several tornadoes are expected, and a few could become intense. In addition, these storms may produce very large hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter—about the size of a tennis ball.

Intense supercells are expected to develop ahead of a frontal boundary, leading to multiple rounds of severe weather this evening. Strong, potentially deadly tornadoes, including EF3 or greater, will be possible.

If a tornado warning is issued for your area, seek shelter immediately in your designated safe place. Move to the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows and exterior walls…
