This Woman Kept Her Backpack Untouched Since The Columbine Shooting, And The Contents Are Chilling

Cindy Maudsley was only 15 and a freshman in high school when she survived the shooting at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999.

She’s kept her backpack for 27 years, untouched (minus a Lunchable), and now she’s sharing what was in her bag on the day of the shooting.

That video is going mega viral:

Edit: Thank you for all the kind comments and well wishes. I’ll try to respond to questions. In the meantime, I take back what I said about kids these days not taking handwritten notes at school. 😅 I think it goes without saying that first and foremost my heart and thoughts are ALWAYS with those who lost their lives that day, and my intention of this video is not to take away from them at all. Sharing what is in my backpack is meant to give a glimpse into the late 90’s while also sharing an important part of history and honoring what my life looked like “before” . 🤍💙🤍💙 Cassie Bernall, 17 Steven Curnow, 14 Corey DePooter, 17 Kelly Fleming, 16 Matthew Kechter, 16 Daniel Mauser, 15 Daniel Rohrbough, 15 William “Dave” Sanders, 47 Rachel Scott, 17 Isaiah Shoels, 18 John Tomlin, 16 Lauren Townsend, 18 Kyle Velasquez, 16 We are…. The front pocket was stuffed with handwritten notes from friends:

This was her class schedule:

That’s some vanilla lotion from Avon:

She had kiwi Yum Yum lip gloss:

More lip gloss:

Her compact:

A vintage Blow Pop:

Her backpack was FULL of books and binders because back in the day we basically lugged around an entire library:

Tons of handwritten notes:

Peep the “This sux!” side note:

It looks like she was reading about Greek mythology:

She had the vocabulary book I feel like everyone had at the time:

She had her report card:

Her calculator:

More notes to friends:

Naturally, her binder was covered with hot guys:

And lastly, the most chilling item: Cindy had math notes from her third-period class on April 20, 1999. The shooting began just two periods later.

In another video, Cindy shared some more info about the Lunchable she kept for 15 years. She kept it because it represented her childhood and her innocence.

When she finally threw it away, she said it looked almost the same except the meat and cheese had shrunk.

Comment-wise, a number of them point out how Cindy’s backpack is a legit historical artifact.

“This might be a good thing to submit to an American History museum.”

Others are pointing out how little has changed in the 27 years since the shooting.

“27 years and we’ve still learned nothing.”
