A former Los Angeles Police Department detective imprisoned in the 1990s for a robbery and sexual assault in the San Fernando Valley has been charged in a new criminal case in Ventura County.
Investigators there accused Michael Brambles in an attack on a woman during a holdup more than 30 years ago. At that time, the case did not go to trial, but Brambles was arrested this week and charged with kidnapping for robbery in connection with the 1994 attack inside a gift store in Thousand Oaks.
