LOS ANGELES (Court TV) — A preliminary hearing scheduled to last several days began with prosecutors showing body camera video of recording artist David “d4vd” Burke eating chips and relaxing when investigators first approached him.

Burke, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, continued lewd and lascivious acts with an individual under 14 years old and mutilating a human body in the death of a missing 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was found in the defendant’s car. He has pleaded not guilty.
Rivas Hernandez’s body was found on Sept. 8, 2025, after the manager of a tow yard called the police to report a strong odor coming from a car on his property. The Tesla, registered in Burke’s name, had been cited by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation on Sept. 3 and impounded on Sept. 5. Officers said the body was found in the front storage area of the Tesla. “I’ve been told it’s called a frunk,” LAPD detective Josh Byers testified on Tuesday.
