An attempted armed robbery near the entrance to the busy Santa Monica Pier left one person with a gunshot wound Sunday night, police confirmed to KTLA.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m., prompting a heavy response from officers with the Santa Monica Police Department. Several intersections in the area were closed as police searched for a group of suspects, including the alleged gunman.
In an email to KTLA, Santa Monica police said a preliminary investigation found that the victim, who has not been identified, was approached by a group of individuals who attempted to rob them.
