Video shows L.A. police tackle partygoers after reports of weapon at large gathering

A large party at a residence in the San Fernando Valley was broken up by police after reports of a gun in the area, and video shows officers tackling and detaining multiple people.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Hesperia Avenue in Encino around 11 p.m. Friday after a call came in regarding a large gathering, a department spokesperson told KTLA.

Preliminary information indicates there may have been hundreds of people throughout the neighborhood when police arrived, and while that detail was not confirmed by law enforcement, the LAPD spokesperson did say that backup, including an air unit, was requested when officers learned of reports of a gun in the vicinity.

Video obtained by KTLA shows officers chasing several people, and at least two young women were physically restrained and tackled to the ground before being detained, the footage shows.
