A Caltrans vehicle went up in flames, triggering an explosion and temporarily shutting down the 110 Freeway through Los Angeles County’s Harbor Region overnight.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the construction truck fire on the northbound side of the freeway, just north of 223rd Street in Carson, around 11:54 p.m. Thursday.
The truck was fully engulfed when emergency crews arrived. Cameras were rolling when the cab area of the burning vehicle exploded, sending debris across multiple freeway lanes.
