Los Angeles — Fellow drivers tackled and held a man at the scene of a fiery crash that claimed a woman’s life on the 10 Freeway Monday night. The collision near South Robertson Boulevard stemmed from aggressive weaving that sent vehicles slamming into the center median. One Toyota Prius erupted in flames upon impact, drawing a rapid response from the Los Angeles Fire Department just after 7 p.m.[1][2]
Aggressive Weaving Sparks Catastrophe
Construction worker Jacob Deegan trailed closely behind the Prius when the accused driver suddenly veered across four lanes of traffic. The maneuver clipped the rear of the Prius, propelling it and two other cars into the median. Flames consumed the Prius almost immediately, filling the air with thick black smoke.[1]
Deegan recounted the harrowing moments to reporters. The aggressive motorist had darted unpredictably through rush-hour congestion before the deadly sideswipe occurred. Eastbound lanes ground to a halt as the fire intensified, with witnesses reporting minor explosions amid the inferno.[1]
Witnesses Act Swiftly to Detain Suspect
As the Prius burned, Deegan grabbed a golf club from his vehicle and rushed toward the trapped driver. Intense heat forced him to retreat before he could shatter the window. Meanwhile, the man responsible bolted down the freeway, prompting a pursuit by outraged bystanders.[1]…
