The incident unfolded near Avenida Rancho Tesoro and Duke Drive around 6:30 p.m., when one rider deliberately steered into the deputy’s path. The deputy lost control and struck a light pole, sustaining injuries that required immediate medical attention.

The deputy was on routine patrol when the two riders approached on dirt bikes. According to investigators, one of the teenagers intentionally veered toward the patrol vehicle, forcing the crash.
