$54 million in counterfeit watches seized by U.S. Customs in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Louisville seized 375 counterfeit watches from a shipment intercepted June 18, the agency said.

CBP said the parcel originated in Hong Kong and was headed to a residence in New York. During an inspection, officers found watches bearing the Audemars Piguet name. CBP’s Centers of Excellence and Expertise determined the items were not authentic and the shipment was seized for violating trademark protections.

“Intellectual property theft threatens America’s economic vitality and funds criminal activities and organized crime,” Louisville Port Director Philip Onken said in a statement…
