LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Residents in a small Southwest Jefferson County community are speaking out against a proposal to build 11 three-story apartment buildings along Stonestreet Road, off the Gene Snyder Freeway.
Developer One Fourteen LLC is seeking to rezone land currently designated as single-family residential and industrial district to multifamily residential. The project would create more than 300 new apartments in the area.
Neighbors say size and scope are the concern
Patrick Bissig, whose family has lived in the neighborhood for generations, said the community’s opposition is not a blanket rejection of development.
“A lot of people believe that our community doesn’t want the development, and I don’t think that’s a fair assessment,” Bissig said. “I think that the size and the scope of the development has kind of overwhelmed us a little bit.”…
