Deadline for Jeffersonville homeless camp clear-out postponed, nonprofit director says

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The head of a southern Indiana nonprofit said the clearing of a Jeffersonville homeless camp was postponed.

Paul Stensrud, the director of Exit 0, said he received the update Wednesday night from the Indiana Department of Transportation. INDOT set a deadline for Aug. 13 to clear the camp near Eastern Boulevard because of a new state law that bans public camping on state land.

Stensrud said four people have agreed to relocate, but a couple more didn’t. He said the area had cleared out, but a new group of people moved into the space Wednesday night…
