Southern Indiana police department introduces new tool to help drivers with autism

CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — The Charlestown Police Department has launched a new program to make traffic stops less stressful for people with autism.

It’s called the Blue Envelope Program.

Drivers will receive a window cling that alerts officers and first responders before an interaction begins that the driver may have a challenge communicating, police said.
