LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Neighbors and businesses in the Meriwether and Schnitzelburg areas are bracing for the two-month Interstate 65 summer shutdown, but they are already feeling some of the impacts.
From June 1 to August 1, I-65 will be shut down between the Watterson Expressway and Jefferson Street downtown. Crews are replacing three aging bridges.
Officials say the closure is necessary to avoid headaches in the future, but it will come at the expense of longer commute times and potential loss of revenue for local businesses.
