New Albany’s original exurb, dating to the late 1970s, envelops State St. from the former Floyd Memorial hospital to the I-265 interstate interchange, just beyond which the Knobs begin their abrupt rise.
In downtown New Albany, State St. leads from the YMCA to Cherry St., roughly six blocks that are considered part of the historic business district.
