Louisville and Southern Indiana residents will need their rain gear for additional showers expected to fall in the region through May 24.
The future flood risk for the area, however, may not be as serious as it was when rounds of heavy rain showers swept through Southern Indiana beginning May 18, said Brian Foster, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Louisville.
Southern Indiana has so far received the brunt of the rainfall – between 2-4.5 inches since May 18 – while the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport got about a half-inch within the same time frame. Foster said there appears to be a “sharp cutoff” for rainfall totals in Louisville, as neighborhoods closer to the Ohio River got much more than communities farther south…
