It’s SO easy to complain about Lubbock. You do it. I do it. We all do it.
It’s not until you actually get out of this place that you really learn to appreciate it for what it’s worth. Sadly, Lubbock doesn’t typically get the credit it deserves until it’s in your rearview mirror.
Here are 5 things you learn to appreciate about this city when you move away.
1. Getting ANYWHERE In Roughly 15 Minutes.
We take this one for granted BIG TIME. You can get from one side of town to the other in about 15 minutes. That does not exist in most cities this size. Lubbock looks like an utter luxury to anyone who gets stuck in standstill traffic during their daily commute. We don’t really have that here at all. Lucky us.
2. Seeing The Entire Sky
The sky feels HUGE here. We don’t have a million buildings and billboards hogging up the view. Our sunsets are incredible, and the stars at night are big and bright, just like the song.
3. People Are Friendly
Utter strangers are kind to you here. They say hello and become your friends very quickly. Don’t believe me? Go test it out for yourself. Usually only takes a smile, if anything, to get someone talking.
4. You Can Basically Park Anywhere
You won’t be circling parking garages and paying crazy fees to park here for events. You can basically park everywhere here for free.
5. It Just Feels Like Home
You don’t get the same feeling of “home” until you come back here after being gone for a long time. You may not have ever felt at home here, really, until the day you missed this place, and that’s a shame…
