LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock City Council approved a zoning request Tuesday that will allow additional industrial development in North Lubbock, despite opposition from many nearby residents.
The approved rezoning affects property located northwest of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport and west of Interstate 27. The request, submitted by the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA), changes the land’s designation from single-family residential to general industrial. Council members also approved a request to annex additional property in the area. The action follows a similar rezoning approved earlier this year.
