Lubbock goes lavender: Celebrate at the Little Red Nursery Festival

LUBBOCK, Texas — Are you looking for something to do over the weekend, either by yourself or with the family? Little Red Plant Nursery is having its 6th Lavender Festival on Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8.

The festival started in 2020 at the first ‘Little Red Nursery’ on 34th street, only having about five vendors and 30 people who attended.

“My son is the one who actually instigated all of our community events. When my son was in high school, he said, ‘ Mom, I just really wish there were more things to do in the Lubbock community,” said Anna Johnson, the owner of the plant nursery on 4410 Woodrow Road.

Folks can expect this year to be around 100 local vendors, many food trucks, bounce houses for kids, different activities like learning how to pot a lavender plant…
