LUBBOCK, Texas — A four-year-old girl who was admitted into Lubbock’s Covenant Children’s Hospital after being diagnosed with Leukemia this year is asking her favorite singer, Ella Langley, for words of encouragement and would love to just hear her voice.
Adalyn Garcia had a normal childhood, going outside to play, loving dressing up and trying different musical instruments, until one day, her life was flipped upside down after doctors in Lubbock diagnosed Garcia with Leukemia on May 27.
Garcia and her family are from Clovis, New Mexico, and at first, she was checked out by doctors in New Mexico after her grandma noticed her becoming pale and having dark eye bags. The doctors there told they it was probably only allergies, not long after, Garcia became very sick, getting flown out to ‘Covenant Children’s Hospital’ in Lubbock and on July 27, she was admitted, had to be intubated and has been there since.
When Garcia had to undergo a procedure in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) she was heavily sedated and, at the time not waking up. The doctors told the family that she could not hear them when they tried to talk to her, but Adalyn’s Grandma, Delia Griego, did not take that as an answer.
