Lubbock group plans to feed over 600 at homeless outreach event

Lubbock, Texas — A Lubbock man will put on a free BBQ for the homeless on Saturday, Jan. 27 at MC Overton Park from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Dominic Arguello who is an owner of a local detailing service, says he was raised to help the next person who needs it.

“I’ve always had a heart for people since I was a little boy. You know, my grandpa raised me to always give to those in need,” Arguello said.

Continuing that same spirit in his adulthood Arguello said, “We see people on there all the time who are in need of a meal or just going through a hard time. So, you know, we wanted to offer a barbecue, just something to put a put a meal in somebody’s belly.”

It was an idea he brought up with a customer and that same customer, to his surprise, donated hundreds of hamburgers and hot dogs to make the event happen.

“I believe we’re over 640 right now with the help with a community meal will be a burger, a hot dog, chips and a drink and also a dessert as well,” Arguello said.

Arguello partnered up with a local church who are making the event a reality.
