Lubbock family raising money for recovery after 12-year-old’s brain aneurysm

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Williams family is moving mountains to get their daughter, Evie, 12, the care she needs after suffering a brain aneurysm at just 10 years old.

The family received bad news from their insurance and learned it would not cover Evie’s inpatient therapy and instead would pay for outpatient therapy. Evie’s parents, Toby and Irene, believe inpatient therapy is what she needs to get the care she needs.

Outpatient therapy, which insurance will cover, consists of a couple of hours of rehabilitation one day a week. Inpatient therapy will allow Evie to stay at the hospital and have occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology.

With insurance not covering these expenses, the family will have to pay out of pocket. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help out with Evie’s medical expenses.

The family is hoping to get a handicapped van for Evie which insurance will not cover.
