Robbery suspect thrown out of Lubbock store window gets federal gun charge

LUBBOCK, Texas — Treshun Devonte Bates, who was convicted of aggravated robbery when he was 21, has now been indicted on a federal charge of being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The indictment states Bates knew he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment and knowingly possessed a firearm.

Bates was charged with aggravated robbery in 2018. An indictment stated Bates was accused of flashing a gun at a convenience store clerk after he refused to sell Bates cigarettes due to him not having his ID at the time of the incident.

The victim then proceeded to try to push Bates out of the store, where Bates struck the victim with the firearm, which led to the victim throwing Bates through the window of the store and trying to hold Bates down, per police report.
