Hot, dry, and windy conditions create critical fire concerns today

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -West Texas locked in a hot, windy, and potentially dangerous fire weather pattern through Monday before another pattern change shakes things up.

Red Flag Warning in effect for most of the area until 9 PM tonight due to a dangerous combination of low humidity, strong winds, and heat.

Temperatures will start off mild but climb into the 90s, while strong southwest winds will pick up during the afternoon hours. Those winds help pull dry desert air into the region.
