The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office reported a call around 9:48 a.m. of a man stuck in mud up to the shoulders near a creek crossing at the Blynn Road Bridge.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, involving the 57-year-old from Madison, who had been trying to walk across the area to get to a fishing spot. The ground appeared to be solid; however, it was deep mud, and he became trapped and unable to free himself.
Officials say he was stuck for about an hour before a passenger in a vehicle on the bridge called 911. Crews began a technical rescue operation with special techniques and equipment.
