Dane County Alzheimer’s advocates win national award

MADISON, Wis. — Four Dane County Alzheimer’s Association advocates representing Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District received a national award this week for their work supporting Alzheimer’s and dementia research.

Fatou Ceesay, Darian Dalsen, Jason Hiller and Lauren Ledbury received the Alzheimer’s Congressional Team of the Year award at the 2026 Alzheimer’s Impact Movement Advocacy Forum in Washington. The event is considered the nation’s premier Alzheimer’s disease advocacy gathering.

The team worked to ensure Alzheimer’s and dementia research at the National Institutes of Health remained a national priority. Team members attended a public town hall, raised questions about Alzheimer’s research funding and submitted multiple letters to the editor urging continued federal investment in the fight against the disease…
