Madison moved closer to buying a tranche of vacant east side lots for potential housing and park development last week as the city’s Plan Commission recommended approving $4 million in tax increment financing for the purchase of 17 lots near Pinney Library along Cottage Grove Road.
City staff expect to finalize the purchase in late July, pending final approval of amendments to Tax Increment District 44, planning department spokesperson Jaymes Langrehr said.
