A young Wisconsin scientist puts her life on hold to work in a kitchen in Antarctica. While there, she gets involved in a scientific mystery that could give her a second chance to reverse one of the lowest points in her life.
That’s the launching point of the new novel “Under Story” by author Chloe Benjamin, who studied and worked for years in Wisconsin. In addition to explorations of loss and human connection, and scientific concepts from biology to physics, the book is heavily inspired by the author’s 15 years living in Wisconsin.
“This book is so much a love letter to Wisconsin,” Benjamin told WPR’s “Wisconsin Today.” The novel is packed with Wisconsin connections, including an apple orchard, a small town, Madison coffee shops and restaurants, and even a cameo appearance by a legendary Wisconsin Public Radio host.
