MADISON, Wis. — Enrollment at the Universities of Wisconsin dropped slightly this year compared to last, but still remained above 160,000 students.
The university system said Day One counts across the 13 UWs put fall 2026 enrollment at an estimated 163,260 students. That’s down 1,732 students from fall 2025. Of the students that left, about 1,100 were international students.
“More than 163,000 students chose a Universities of Wisconsin university this fall, a strong sign that demand remains steady,” interim system president Renée Wachter said. “These students and their families are making an investment in their future and Wisconsin’s future.”…
