VERONA, Wis. (WMTV) -Verona police are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers are spoofing the department’s actual phone number and using the names of real Verona officers to demand money.
Callers claim residents missed jury duty, have an outstanding warrant, or face arrest unless they pay immediately through gift cards, wire transfers or crypto.
