(WFRV) – A Madison-area man was sentenced in federal court on Friday to six years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, announced US Attorney Chadwick Elgersma for the Western District of Wisconsin.
40-year-old Dushaun Mims received the sentence from Chief US District Judge James Peterson, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Mims pled guilty to the charge on June 18.

The charge stems from a May 6, 2025, investigation by the Fitchburg and Madison police departments into a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Fitchburg bar.
