Gambling disorder linked to mental health conditions, new research shows

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – New research from Epic shows depression, anxiety and substance use are much more common among people diagnosed with a gambling disorder.

For some people, those struggles started before their gambling problem was ever diagnosed.

Mental health diagnoses before and after

Among women with a gambling disorder, about 62% had already been diagnosed with depression more than a year and a half earlier. About 60% had an anxiety diagnosis.
