Teens from Rockford and Beloit charged in attempted Wisconsin gun shop robbery

OREGON, Wis. (WTVO) — Authorities have charged two teens, 15 and 16, from Rockford and Beloit, for attempted burglary to a Wisconsin gun shop.

According to the Oregon, Wisconsin police department, on Christmas Eve around 7:38 p.m., officers were called to the Max Creek Outdoors Gun Shop and Range, at 1042 Park Street, for a reported burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, a vehicle was seen leaving the parking lot. Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver turned off the headlights and fled at a “fast rate of speed.”

Police said the officer disengaged from the pursuit.

Later that night, two teens were arrested in Winnebago County, Illinois, police added.

Detectives were able to identify the suspects after an extensive investigation.

The 15-year-old teen from Beloit has been charged with Burglary, Fleeing a Police Officer, and Damage to Property.

The 16-year-old teen from Rockford has been charged with Possession of Burglary Tools and Damage to Property.

The suspects were not identified because of their ages.
