MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, the final Crystal Apple educator is celebrated for a life of service spanning four decades.
Chris Eshun has taught fourth grade at St. James Catholic School since 1985. She received the Crystal Apple Award for creating experiences for her students and modeling a life of service.
“The priest at the time knew I came from a farm and he said, they’re hardworking. And he said, she’s hired,” Eshun said with a laugh.
Field trips and experiences
Eshun has created numerous experiences for her students through field trips.
“Everybody knows that 4th grade is a field trip year. We went on tons of field trips,” said Edith Bruenig, a seventh grader.
